The Eight Chosen Races for Creation
When the Weave first brought forth life, it created eight races, each designed to reflect a different aspect of its essence. These were not mere mortals—they were the First Beings, crafted with immense power and deep connection to the Weave itself.
The Races
Elves – Embodiment of Balance and Harmony
Created to represent the Weave's desire for natural balance, elves were given long lives and deep attunement to nature and magic. They were meant to be the keepers of wisdom and guardians of the natural order.
Dwarves – Embodiment of Endurance and Creation
Dwarves represented permanence and craftsmanship. They were given strength, resilience, and an innate understanding of stone and metal, meant to build lasting structures that would endure through the ages.
Humans – Embodiment of Adaptation and Change
Humans were the Weave's experiment in rapid adaptation. Short-lived but incredibly versatile, they were designed to explore all possibilities, to change and grow faster than any other race.
Halflings – Embodiment of Community and Joy
Halflings represented the Weave's understanding of simple pleasures and community bonds. They were crafted to find joy in the everyday and to build strong, supportive societies.
Giants – Embodiment of Power and Will
Giants were made to represent raw strength and dominion over the physical world. They were the Weave's expression of magnitude and force.
Aarakocra – Embodiment of Freedom and Perspective
Created to soar above all others, the Aarakocra represented freedom, vision, and the ability to see the world from all angles. They were meant to be messengers and observers.
Tritons – Embodiment of Flow and Mystery
Tritons were crafted to understand the depths and mysteries of the ocean, representing the Weave's unknowable and ever-changing nature.
Dragonborn – Embodiment of Potential and Transformation
The Dragonborn represented raw potential and the capacity for transformation. They were connected to draconic power, embodying both creation and destruction.
Why Eight Races?
The Weave chose eight races to mirror its own Eight Facets—the eight schools of magic that represented different aspects of reality. Each race was meant to explore one aspect of existence more deeply than the others, contributing to a diverse and balanced world.
