A rope appears similar to a normal serpent, albeit usually of a green, gray, or brown-yellow color, and with eyes that faintly glow yellow or red. It relies heavily on sight compared to most snakes. When it spies potential prey, a rope is known to dart at it at eerily high speed even from a great distance, and leap upon it with a venomous bite. Unlike most snakes, ropes will often hunt in small groups of about two to dozen.
