The orbus is only found among spacefaring beholders, lacking functional eye stalks and most of the intelligence of a regular beholder. They are the means by which beholders move their ships through Wildspace , channeling the energies of other members of the hive into motive force as a living Spelljammer helm . Aboard a ship, they tend to be found near the hive mother, who controls them, under the highest level of security available to them.
