The strong smell of Hukolgur has allowed them in times of low sea levels to cross to various islands in the known world, such as the Khalin Islands in the south and Pakardia. The population in Pakardia has some integration of mainland hukolgur from time to time but generally these sloths, called rokelkan ("cave maker") by the Pakardiant, are given their own species epithet ( Tectospelaea rokelkan ).
