Oracle

"I see great and wondrous deeds in your future, but you must first endure much pain and sorrow."
Skill Proficiencies: Insight, Religion
Tool Proficiencies: None
Languages: Two languages of your choice
Equipment: Set of common clothes, a set of divination tools

Feature: The Future is Mine

As your gift gives you small glimpses into the future, you can use them to twist things in your favor. People are usually scared of or intrigued by what you can tell them, whether it's about them or not. By making a prediction or prophecy aloud, you can sometimes get things such as a free night's stay at an inn, information, or discounts at shops and markets. Be discerning of whom you tell futures to, and what knowledge you give them, however, as not all knowledge is happily known.

Suggested Characteristics

Personality Traits (d8)

1I wholeheartedly believe that knowledge is the most important thing in the world.
2I can find common ground between the fiercest enemies, empathizing with them and always working towards peace.
3I see omens in every event, action and vision. The gods try to speak to us, we just need to listen.
4I'm self conscious about my visions and sharing them.
5I am tolerant (or intolerant) of other faiths and respect (or condemn) the worship of other gods.
6I've spent so long in the temple that I have little practical experience dealing with people in the outside world.
7Most people don't want to hang out with the person spouting cryptic bits of the future, and I'm fiercely protective of my few friends.
8I often change details about my visions. It's not as if they need to know, right?

Ideals (d6)

1Knowledge. I must learn all about my visions and what knowledge they hold. (Neutral)
2Aspiration. I seek to prove myself worthy of my god's blessing by matching my actions against his or her teachings. (Any)
3Change. These visions are a message from the gods telling us what must be changed in this world. (Chaotic)
4Tradition. These visions are a message from the gods telling us what must be maintained in this world. (Lawful)
5Horror. I wish for these nightmares people call "visions" to be done with me. No more. (Chaotic)
6Break the Circle. I foresaw a horrific event occur in the town I live in. I wish to prevent it. (Lawful)

Bonds (d6)

1Everything I do is for the common people.
2I will do anything to protect the temple where I served.
3I want to spread my knowledge to all.
4I will someday get revenge on the corrupt temple leader who branded me a heretic.
5I've been searching my whole life for the meaning of a particular vision.
6I've seen horrors that would destroy the sanity of others, but I have made it through.

Flaws (d6)

1I am inflexible in my thinking.
2My visions make me arrogant in matters I have foreseen. It's not as if the visions can be wrong.
3I am suspicious of strangers and expect the worst of them.
4My piety sometimes leads me to blindly trust those that profess faith in my god.
5Once I foresee something, I become obsessed with it to the detriment of everything else in my life.
6I can't accept someone criticizing my visions. I know what I saw!
